i have played poker for years now but the name Omaha has always remided me of the Omaha Beach Landings, is there any connection?

There is no relationship between Omaha poker and Omaha beach its just a name.Robert Turner first brought Omaha into a casino setting when he introduced the game to Bill Boyd who offered it as a game at the Las Vegas Golden Nugget Casino . Its like relating French fries with French people.
