Decision Making During Online Poker Games A game of online poker is different from the real thing. I am not talking about the fact that things are more tangible when participating in a real table poker game. I am taking about the game itself and how game plans and decisions are made while facing your PC and playing the game online. When it comes to real table poker, decisions and calls are pretty much dramatic, for lack of a better term. You play your cards when it’s your turn and see to it that whatever card you’re holding is hidden from the other players. You should never say anything or do anything that would reveal what cards you are holding. On the hand, playing an online poker game is not all about the poker face and the eccentric appeal. You have to play by the system when you’re playing online. How Calls Are Made At an online poker game, calls are made by using or clicking on the buttons on your system. The presence of these buttons is very crucial for a poker player. And as expected, there is a Call button, a Raise button, a Check button, a Fold button and, lastly, the Check/Fold button. You could click any of these buttons once you see your hand. All of these buttons are available all the time except the Check/Fold button, which is only enabled if you are at a certain position on the table. Since you are able to click on each of these buttons upon being dealt your cards, you could therefore decide before your turn. This comes crucial especially for players who like to take on multiple tables. Clicking one of these buttons does not give you any disadvantage during the game. You cards are not shown even if you click the fold button. Online players usually play by the odds and not through game play observation. The Check/Fold Button There is another button though that you might want to try to avoid using much too often. This is the Check/Fold button. This button is not enabled all the time. You only get to use this button at the big blind position. Pressing the Check/Fold button does not reveal your card, but using it all the time reveals something to other players. When you are playing at big poker tables where players are more observant than your regular table participants, clicking on the Check/Fold button more often is an absolute no-no. Doing so tells your opponents that you don't have anything on your hand. Since you are willing to fold your cards when somebody raises it becomes obvious that you are only trying to have a free look at the flop. If you do this often, observant players will take you out of the game before the flop. Losing your hand hinges on the flop. So when you are planning to play poker, try to keep the cursor off the Check/Fold button if it is not really necessary. |
