ENJOYING TEXAS POKER

If you’ve watched poker in televisions, you most likely saw Texas poker being played.  Even those who do not completely understand the game and are new to it eventually get to start enjoying watching the players and how the game is rolling out before their very eyes.  Sure, it’s a card game but you have to use your brain to strategize and analyze how each player uses the cards they’re dealt with to come up with the winning hand.

Variations of Texas Poker

You see variations of Texas poker being played where the main basis is the limit to betting or wagers the player can call during any given hand.  The game rules are basically similar in any of these variations.  But if you’re watching the game on television, what you’re seeing is the no limit variation.  Spectators can see the all-familiar all in bet with this variation which makes the game more exciting because it could either lead to an opponent getting booted out of the game or it could mean losing a big chunk of a player’s chips, depending on which side of the fence you are.

How the Game is Played

You would normally see a dealer shuffling a deck of 52 cards.  There would be two players on the left of the dealer placing an amount of money then combined as the pot before the cards are dealt.  This should ensure everyone involved that there would be something to get the game doing on each hand played for the session.

The players are then dealt with two cards which are tagged as the hole cards.  Betting starts and the players can make a call or fold when their turn is called.  After the initial round of bets, the dealer burns the top card on the deck.  The dealer then starts flipping the flops face up.  Flops are the next three cards from the deck after the topmost card has been discarded or burned.  Then another round of betting begins.  The cycle continues until the last community card is dealt on the table.  The players then start coming up with combinations based on their hole cards and the community cards to come up with a 5-card hand.

Through all this rounds of betting, you get a good picture of what each player has and you could more or less see who has the winning hand unless the other player gives away his cards.  This sure is one not recommended for the faint-hearted.  The suspense will kill you.
