FAST-TRACK YOUR POKER GAME

If you’re quite new to playing poker, it would good to know basic characteristics of poker players who retain sustainability in the game.  Consider poker as a national sport where good ones get the chance to excel and win the medal and the money and fame that come with it if you do consider playing in the big league.

Sharpening Your Game

Discipline starts from within.  Poker requires concentration on the game at hand.  We’re talking about keeping a tight rein over your emotions including your reactions to cards dealt and calls made by your opponents.  You can go to casinos and seeing poker players get themselves drunk while playing game.  A drink or two won’t hurt is what they always say.  But alcohol can and do cloud your judgment.  If you’re this loose with drinking, you can just imagine what type of mistakes you can make with each play.

Be careful of playing all hands.  It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re likely to win more when you stay longer in the game.  Poker is not designed that way.  Whatever bet you already placed is no longer your money so don’t think you could take it all back by playing all hands.  There would come a point where you could saturate yourself.

Observers Win

Since you started as an observer before actually playing the game, don’t lose that quality when you’re actually playing poker.  Look at the other players and see if there are expression that would give away the cards dealt to them.  Watch out for players who seem to act like a maniac or who keeps bluffing with every play.  See if the players seem to follow a pattern with every round.  If you’re able to gather enough detail about your opponents, you can start using this information to your advantage.

Do not limit your observations to other players.  Take note of the cards that’s dealt, discarded and how far gone you are into the game.  It might be a good time to call a bluff especially if you think that others might fall into thinking you got a good hand during that round.

Once you start mastering yourself, your game and you can read your opponents, you could try moving your game one level higher.  All poker players start on the same foot.  But only those who learn to adapt themselves to the conditions meant to help win at poker more are ready to grow and move up a notch higher than their colleagues.
