How to Win a Sit and Go Game
There seems to be a lot of ideas when it comes to tactics to use in a Sit and Go Tournament. This is because of the nature of Sit and Go tourneys that make them a little easier to understand and analyze. But of course there is no sure way of winning the game but there are of course ways to lessen the risk of being kicked out of the game early.
Staying in the game as long as possible is everything in Sit and Go games. The only way to get closer to becoming the winner is to survive the game. This task although very easy to say is pretty hard to comply. Even great poker players usually gets trap by being too excited.
Patience is everything
The best way to stay long in the game is to keep your stack healthy. In essence, it would not be a good idea to gamble most of your chips earlier in the game. Remember that even if you double your money at one point you still have a long way in the game to lose what you won. You have to play safe in the earlier rounds.
It also helps to go for the flop if you have some relatively marginal hands. But remember that this is only advisable if you have a healthy stack and on a relatively good position. If you are in the button position it almost a must to wait for the flop. This position gives you a two fold advantage. First, it lets you deal with lesser players since most players might have folded before you. Second, it lets you see the flop for little investment from time to time, except when somebody has already raised the blinds.
Right Time to be Aggressive
When playing a Limit or a No Limit Sit and Go Tournament it is advisable to be a bit tight during the early stages. Do not go all in even if you think you have the most probable winning card. Remember that in Poker as much as in any card game there is no such thing as a hundred percent winning hand. Unless, you were able to see your opponents' cards, which is of course a bit too far fetch to happen especially in a Poker tournament. What I am implying is that you are still depending on the highest probability to win.
Be aggressive on the middle rounds of the tournament. At this time the blinds are relatively high to risk for. And at the same time you are no longer safe in just waiting for the good card at this stage. Try to be observant and take advantage of the folds. Once enough players have folded take the opportunity to play your cards even if the probability of winning is only fair. |
