NOCTURNAL POKER

Most poker players would call it a day when it’s night time and start hitting the sack.  But there are still those who decide to hang back and play with abandon.  If you’re up to it, you could trying sleeping earlier than usual and try getting up to play poker at around 3:00 AM onwards.  That should be a profitable experience for you if you’re alert and skilled enough to make the right calls during several hands.

Staying Alert

One has to consider his body clock when playing.  Poker players may look like mannequins when it comes to showing emotions but they are not robots who can go on playing no matter what.  We do need to take in-between breaks and go home when our bodies tell us that it’s time to get a move on and sleep for the night.  Otherwise, you will start playing a little too loosely than usual and other players might take advantage of you.

Poker Play Through the Night

Like what I said, you will still get some players attempting to snag pots here and there by playing through the entire night.  You might want to try this yourself on some nights but be sure to do it when you’ve had your rest.  Honestly, it would still be tough getting up at unusual hours just to try several hands but you’ll be surprised at some behaviors exhibited by poker players at that time.  I have seen some players actually failing to shield their cards from their opponents probably because they’re too tired to use both hands to cover their hand at that time.

You might not get a lot of that though.  What you would observe more are players who seem to play on auto pilot.  You would see a pattern in their play that things start getting predictable.  I mean I see a guy who seems to keep calling bets most of the time.  Occassionally, he would raise a bet but when the river is dealt, he would just fold and not even check the opponent’s bet.

If you’re up to the challenge of playing against your body clock, then you could try doing so because other players at this time usually have their guards down.  Poker is about manipulating other players.  Whatever time of the day it is played, one has to be prepared and good when they do take a seat and play their cards.
