Playing poker means being ready to play well at every turn.  You must be prepared to constantly apply your advantage over an extended period of time against your opponents. If you start playing with better skills against other players you would expect yourself to win the round.  But what if something throws you especially when you start hitting on the rocks?  Most players who go through a losing streak start losing their touch as well and end up losing more after that.

Table of Maniacs

Good players will sometimes whine about the trouble with playing over a table of maniacs.  They would be the first to say that AA will never work against players who keep on ramming in and where the players usually take the flop.  Although AA is a considered a good hand in holdems, it does not necessarily follow that it could give you the win at all costs.  If that’s how you think it works, then you better do some more reading about other things or factors to consider when playing poker.  Besides, if you’re winning half the time with AA, you should thank your lucky stars as there are seven more players trying to win the remaining half.

Realities of Poker

It is expected that you will win some days and lose on other days, however good you are.  Pots do not necessarily fall on your lap with regularity.  Good players are not as easily crushed when they start losing due to bad luck.  They keep their head on their shoulders by trying not to lose more on bad days and be able to return with adequate bankroll for their plays.

Focus is the name of the game.  The player who can focus the more on the game at hand eventually wins the pot.  You keep the edge of your game and other players will start responding to you game according to plan.  You should still retain that focus when you lose a few times in a row instead of playing less strategically and going on tilt.

Poker holdem is not about getting even if you lose money.  It is all about applying your edge on all turns even if things start getting a bit shaky.  Learn to control your emotions and think straight so you remain aware of what’s happening around you.  You should be deliberate when making decisions.  Only then will you achieve winning money in poker.
