Online and Real Table Poker

There are a lot of things that affect a poker game.  Whether it is played online or on real poker table, skill and experience are important in winning the game.  It is funny though that some of the best poker players who thought that they have mastered the poker table seems to lose badly on the online table.  They sometimes blame the system about this.  You could always hear them complaining that the system is flawed.

But what they don't realize is that this business is pretty big and serious to allow flaws in the system.  The only reason why, albeit their success on real poker tables, they still lose online is their failure to consider the difference between the two types of gaming.

The Players

Online poker players and real table players are very different from each other.  Both types of players play the same kind pf games but on two totally different environment and conditions.  In essence, both types of players also need a different set of skills to succeed in the game.  Although some skills might be familiar, there are some that are totally different.

Online players have a more limited view of the game than real-table players.  When you are playing online, you do not see whom you are playing with.  This simply means that you are a bit blind when it comes to your opponents’ reactions and gestures.  Both of these observations are crucial to real-table players.  Mastering your opponents’ reaction sometimes proves to be a make or break thing for real table players.

Online table players rely more on probabilities and betting patterns when playing poker.  So unless you have mastered both and rely less on player observation, you cannot hope to win on an online game.

The Game

Aside from the fact that playing online means that things are a bit less tangible, it has a lot of elements that are very different compared to a real poker game.  Online poker players are expected to fold right away before the flop.  This is because of the fact that “bad cards” have a lot more chance to be played online than on real tables.

So always try to observe the game online before putting the blame on the system and further losing money.  If you want to try your luck online, try playing on smaller tables first and observe before going in for the bigger ones.  Poker is pretty much a game of skill, but you should always consider the environment and situations before going from the real table to the online scenario.
