PLAYING POKER AGGRESSIVELY

Poker is a game thoroughly enjoyed not just by players but by spectators too.  Tournaments have become quite commonplace and watching people come in droves and try their luck at winning in no-limit Holdem can be a delightful place to be in.  But that certainly depends on whether you intend to win money or you’re just there for the fun of it.  Between the two, the former would be the better option so the interest in poker playing gets higher instead of waning because of losing hands.

Tournament Scenarios

Tournaments are open to anyone who has enough money for a buy in.  In no limit poker, anyone is allowed to bet as much amount as they can manage.  Similarly, we could be talking about several tables which give you a pretty good chance of taking up the pot here and there.  In most instances, you would play tight and avoid losing money less and win more money.  Playing tight means taking the opportunity should a good hand come up to win the hand.  Otherwise, just fold when you got no chance of pulling it off.  You can’t bluff your way out every time.

Sizing Up the Players

Each table in the tournament plays host to a whole gamut of players with different styles and strategies.  More often than not, the man with the highest stack of chips has a say in the game around the table.  Somehow, you dictate the tempo of the game because you can take out the other players with your chips.  If you’re not given to poker tells and you got a good set of hands, you could give the air of the best hand and make your opponents think twice before calling your bet.

Well and good if you got the upper hand in the table but what if you start breaking up the table and come fourth among the players in terms of stack of chips.  This new set of players present another challenge to you.  Playing maniacally in this table will not usually work to your advantage because you can’t bully the other players out of the game simply because they know you don’t have the bankroll.  The one with the chips got it.  Playing tighter is the way to do it.

Poker tournaments require you to reinvent yourself according to the strengths and weaknesses of the other players around you.  If your opponents see a player who runs a tight ship with his cards presents an image that you can’t mess with easily.
