POKER ATTITUDE ASSESSED

Objectivity

It is hard to be objective about your attitude when it comes to poker play.  I know a lot of players who even have to ask another person’s opinion just to get a better grasp of their attitude whenever they play poker.  If one player doesn’t overestimate himself, he may tip the balance the other way by underestimating himself instead.  This makes the task of assessing your strengths and weaknesses a bit tough.  Nonetheless, you could try having a go at it so you’d know how to counteract your Achilles heel when playing poker.

Good and Delta Points

We should start with the good points to cushion the weaknesses. One good thing about poker is that most people are aware that luck can play a part with the game.  Understanding this simple fact makes players more accepting of bad luck if it happens to come to them.  In which case, you would try to rely more on your skill more than anything else.  On the downside, players who depend on their skill have the tendency to let winnings go to their heads.  Sad part is that it shows and your opponents can easily read you just as if you actually showed them your hand.

Good for you if you’ve learned to curb your desire for “revenge” if you lost some money to other players during several hands.  You know that playing more hands will not necessarily make you win back what you lost during the game.  The question now is do you show lack of confidence when you start running out of bankroll?  When you’re pushed against the wall, it is hard to stay calm and collected so you don’t give anything away to your opponents.

We are aware that anyone can play poker anytime they want to.  Are you a good marathon player so much so that you can stay for hours on end without allowing your focus to waver?  Some players think that should they stop playing while on a roll, they would lose their winning streak.  C’mon, even great players know when to take a break and clear their head before sitting down again for another round of hands.

The only way to improving your play is understanding yourself.  Play up your good points and minimize your delta points.  If you stay open to these thoughts, you are indirectly improving your thought process as well which is an integral part of poker plays.
