Poker Gamers and Strategies Poker is a national past time among different people of various backgrounds. It is not uncommon to find individuals whiling their time away by playing poker. But not everyone is cut out of the same mold. You will also encounter individuals who actually play poker for a living. And here is where we see how different motivations can make individuals play using different styles and strategies to suit their purposes. Serious and Not Too Serious Players There are some players who play poker seriously. They make it a point of studying their actions and such actions’ consequences in detail. These are the players who try to play ahead of the game. They seldom call a bluff when playing poker. When they do, they bet big time. They also do it when they find themselves having a lucky hand. Essentially, they only place a bet when they are relatively sure that they would win the bet. Now that’s what I call playing it smart. There are players though who just keep on bluffing regardless if they have an extremely good hand at that point or not. The other players would be hard put to guess whether the bluff is just a bluff or whether they’re actually dealing with a player who’s holding a very good hand. They are most certainly hard to read but you do see a lot of these types playing in online poker circles. Unlike face to face poker plays, players online do not have the luxury of reading the facial expressions of their opponents. Think you know them all? Well, guess again. You will also find poker players who’d be much better off not playing poker. These are weak players who hardly play to win but play just to kill time. They may respond with a call to small betting just to be able to see what the other players’ cards are but they won’t be willing to raise the stakes, even if they seem to have an unusually good hand to play with. What this Means to You By realizing the category under which your opponents fall, you’ll have more or less the upper hand at the table. You would be able to read how good their cards are and predict how they would respond to certain bets or calls. It’s up to you to put this knowledge to your advantage by playing smartly and decisively. You now have an idea what you’re up against. Otherwise, you’re also free to just waste some money and a lot of your time with online poker plays. It’s your call. |
