POKER MAZE UNRAVELED

No one would want to be left behind as soon as poker game starts.  Both player and spectators will watch the game closely from start to finish.  The players may have monopoly of the pot money and are the only ones given a chance to win it but that does not deter spectators coming up with their own round of bets before the game started.  If you are wondering how you could stay with the game no matter what slang you might have, start reading the rest of the article so you won’t come out of the game scratching your head.

From Chips to Actions

Bankroll refers to the chips on the table that a player has.  Pro poker players may also refer to it as stack, much similar to how you’d say stack of money and in this case, stack of chips.  If you’re got just a few chips to gamble, you stack is considered short and unless lady luck is smiling on you or you’re extremely good at the game, prepare for an early exit.

Putting in your bet is the same as posting a bet, commonly observed with forced bets before any card is dealt at the start of the game.  The dealer has the option to post a blind for you if you happen to step away for a quick break during the game.

When you call in a bet, it’s the same as limping in.   On the other hand, if you raise the bet to a higher amount, it’s called kick or bump.  So when you hear phrases like “bumped it to fifteen” or “kick it up to $20” it simply mean you raised the bar higher for the betting.  When all the players stays in a hand and not one folded or mucked out, you got a rare case of family pot.

Talk Like the Pros

When someone hears you say this lingo during poker, you won’t be mistaken for a novice.  Think you’re ready to join the group?  Go ahead and make sure you got enough buy in to be able to sit down at a game and who knows, enter a tournament too.  Start checking out what the other players are doing then start thinking like a real poker player by knowing when the terms are applicable during the call.  You got enough practice around the table while waiting your turn to other limp in, bump the bet while watching your stack closely.
