POKER STUMBLING BLOCKS
So you think you’re a good poker player. Well, could be. Getting too engrossed with yourself, are you? Wake up! You’re probably not as good as you think. I bet you commit mistakes while playing poker and you dismiss them as trivial and insignificant to your overall performance on the table. Beware of getting too cocky for your own good. Prides goes before a fall, so they say and you’re not exempt from that too, however good you may be.
Honesty Opens Opportunities for Improvement
No poker player can ever be perfect. Even the best ones have their weaknesses when playing poker. Sometimes we get too caught up in a game that we can’t seem to stop going on like a bull-headed prick. I can confess to mistakes that players of my experience could have easily controlled. Thing is your opponents could take advantage of this weakness too just as soon as you start presenting signs and symptoms of loosening your grip over your hands.
Let me tell you my personal stumbling blocks. I become too predictable by calling at every hand. I can be stubborn and keep bluffing up until the river when a better player called me. Another nagging attitude I got is that I keep pushing myself to play more hands when I’m too tired to even think straight.
Adapting, A Player’s Weapon
Once we start admitting our flaws, it would be easier to look for solutions to our common poker maladies. Take the first step to question your poker plays and go back to the basics. I have since learned that even the best players can get their status over their head and that’s where things start going down. Confidence is important when playing poker. I agree with that statement. You can give the air of someone who knows what he’s doing and how to win hands. But be the first person to question your moves too because only then will you be able to outsmart your opponents.
Being able to adapt and change for better plays will be the key to winning. If you need to refresh your memory with poker basics, you have all the resources you would need to do that. Here, you don’t need for a wheel to break to fix it. You could polish the wheel and change it if necessary before it breaks down. Be proactive in honing your poker attitude and strategies to be at your poker peak performance. |
