Poker Winner Takes It All

Picture yourself joining an online poker tournament.  It wouldn’t be hard to imagine that a lot of poker players join in as well.  You played your game right and your hands are good and true.  Finally, it all goes than to the finals with just you and your opponent.  The finalists are then pitted against each other in a heads-up poker play.  Despite the number of players at the start of the tournament, it all boils down to just two remaining players.  The player who racked up the chips wins the game.  That’s how it’s played.  So you want to win?

Aggressive Play for Heads-Up Poker

The strategy you played out earlier when you were still playing against several players will not work to your advantage this time.  Only the most courageous and bold-minded will eventually win this play.  You will feel the increased intensity and pacing of the game so that you realize you either have to be the offensive or aggressive player or you end up eating the dust after your opponent.  Remember that this time, there’s just the two of you playing the game.

You must be at the forefront calling the shots at every turn of hand.  And why not?  You’re the one who’s paying for those blinds so that if you fail to take this initiative, the other player is sure to get the upper hand.  The blinds are at its peak at this stage of the game so that it is absolutely important that you get the better of every turn to win and start stacking those chips on your side of the table.

Card Relevance

The cards you get during head-up poker take on more weight than it ever did when you were playing them with five other opponents.  If you had been dealt an Ace-Ten earlier, you may still have had some reservations with it and fold or use it to your advantage late in the stage of playing against more players.  But if you’re just left with this one opponent standing between you and the pot, you are most certainly entitled to go for all-in with good odds of winning it too.

The play has gone up several notches higher.  You could either keep on folding or have your opponent lose his nerve and keep on folding instead.  It is surprising to note that most winners know when to take risks and call the bluff or play a good hand or even a bad hand to their advantage.  So, who will you be?
