PROFESSIONAL POKER PLAYS
Card games are something every one of us can identify with, at least I think so, based on how people take to it. Let’s look at poker more closely. I’m sure that if you haven’t played it, you have at least witnessed it being played by relatives and acquaintances one way or another. If not, you’ve probably seen some poker tournaments on TV. You must have also heard about it in the news after online poker encountered some rough sailing with legislations recently. Suffice to say, it is everywhere for you not to notice or know it.
Player Types
Depending on how serious you are with the game, you will find poker to be a nice way of taking time out from a very demanding job or family responsibilities or something that would allow you to rake in money. It could also be both for you. Basically, you can divide the players in to the serious ones, those who are in it for the money and those who are in it just for fun. If you’re the former type, I’m sure you’ve prepared yourself better than the latter when playing poker. You could also act like you’re just there for fun but end up fleecing your opponents. You just have to beware though that they might not want to include you in the game next time around.
Poker for the Real Thing
What qualities do you need to become a successful poker player? Well, you could start by having a good sense of discipline. If you weren’t as disciplined when you were younger, you could get some tips on how to be a more mature decision maker with serious poker playing. You see, poker requires some quick thinking on your part where you know you would lose less and win more. Are you disciplined enough to learn the odds of winning at poker? If you don’t know that yet, then you need to do more to make up for lost ground.
Bluffing is not for the weak personalities. If you betray yourself by twitching or showing a bead of perspiration on your forehead, don’t try it. That’s why we got the expression poker face. If you haven’t mastered that, then think of ways to camouflage or counter those tell tale signs that you’re bluffing during a poker game.
These things may look easy to do but you should try them first before you get fleeced yourself by a better professional poker player. |
