RISE OF HORSE POKER

If you’ve been to Full Tilt Poker to play online, you would find that this site is host to HORSE tournaments with stakes running higher than most other tournaments.  The site provides a springboard for pro Full Tilt players for the upcoming World Series of Poker where HORSE remains a much-anticipated event, although fairly new in poker circles.

Attraction to HORSE poker

The term HORSE stands for Holdem (Texas), Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud Eight or Better, also commonly identified as Seven Card Stud High-Low.  These five are actually variations of poker games.  With such a wide scope of poker games covered, the players for HORSE poker are expected to be highly skilled pro players, at least those who will last the distance in the series of games involved.  For that to happen, a player has to be skilled enough to go through each game and win at hands whenever possible.

Amateurs who rely mostly on luck will not be too happy with this kind of game.  It may work in their favor for the first game but it definitely will now be the same throughout the entire tournament.  Their chances are limited and it really is hard to wager on something you know will not work in your favor.

Effective Game Plan for HORSE Poker

With this game, poker variations must rotate in this order: Holdem, Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud then Seven Card Stud High Low.  What determines the transition from one poker to the nest is the set amount of time allotted for each.  So this means it can occur at any part of the game either at a round of betting or after the blinds are up.

As player, you would need to play at each poker variation with a tight aggressive hand.  You would want to create an image of a dominant player whenever possible.  So, what this means exactly is to play a good hand in poker you are good at to win stack after stack.  Now, for variations you are not as formidable as you would like to be, you can at least try to limit your losses as best as possible so that it will not make you lose your chance at the entire game.  Best game plan is to be effective at all tables regardless of variation but this one can be a tough job to due, even for good players.  It’s like trying to master various poker games all at the same time.
