RULES ON TEXAS HOLDEM MISDEALS

Ideal Game

Texas Holdem starts with a small and big blind from the two players on the dealer’s left.  A random card dealt to each player to determine the dealer in the game such that the one with the highest card is chosen.  The suits in the deck are spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs which are also arranged according to descending strength.  After the blinds are posted, the dealer starts putting out two pocket cards each to the player which starts the initial round of laying a bet around the table.  3 community cards are then given facing up in the center of the table called the board called flop which sets off the 2nd round of betting.  The turn card is again given face up on the board which yet starts another betting round.  After the river and last card is dealt on the board, the last round of betting starts.  At the end of the game, the player with the best hand wins the pot.

Rules for Mistakes

Generally, the hand must be started over such as when the dealer flashed the first card taken from the deck.  If a card accidentally flew off the table, it is considered exposed and is returned on the table.  If another card aside from the first one off the deck is flashed, the dealer is required to announce the card to al players and treated as a burn card.  The second time it occurs, it will be called misdeal where all players need to return the hole cards dealt face down to each of them and the hand is replayed.  If the turn card is dealt before the betting round is finished, the card is taken out then burns a card.  The next card becomes the turn card which normally would’ve been the river card.

Flops are redealt if more than three is placed on the board even if the extra card is identified.  The deck is reshuffled after the cards in the flop are added back to the deck to start on a fresh flop.  This will also be observed should the dealer deals the flop before the last player closes the first betting round in the game.  There are initially two pocket cards dealt to each player but if an extra card is dealt, it is returned to the deck and if more than one extra card is dealt, this becomes a misdeal and a replay is mandatory.
