Telltale Signs in Poker Plays

I’m sure you’ve watched a poker tournament in action on television.  You probably have seen how professional poker players tend to watch their opponents around the table with hawk eyes.  Then you see some players hang their head like losers or break a sweat all of a sudden.  You see all these body movements on television and you are mesmerized yourself hoping to see telltale signs of winning and losing as exhibited by the players around the table.  Now, have you guessed why some players wear colored eyeglasses despite the event being played indoors?  Obviously, they don’t want to give anything away with the slightest eye movement to their opponents.

Online Poker

So how do you figure out the telltale signs of your opponents if you’re playing poker online?  Here are a few tips and tricks you can start gathering in your arsenal to start defeating other player in online poker.

Concentration is an important part of the game.  If you start seeing an opponent who seems to have all the time in the world to chat with you or anyone else in the room, then this one’s an easy opponent for you.  Even skilled poker players know that they have to concentrate on the game at hand.  Know which cards have been dealt with and observe how far along you’ve been with the deck.  If you’re good enough, you can start figuring out for yourself if you have the upper hand in the game or not.

Is your opponent taking time to check when it’s his turn?  Or are you the one who’s delaying with it?  If you are then you better start changing your tack.  That’s a dead giveaway that you have no good hand to play with for starters.

You should not be easily cowed by opponents who always go all in especially at the onset of the game.  So how do you crush this player?  When you start getting a good hand to play, call their all in.  That should stop him on his tracks and keep his winnings in check.

There are players too who seem to know nothing but fold.  You’re looking at someone who tends to play it safe and just wait for the opportunity to get a good hand before starting to place a bet.  When this person starts betting, it is wise to just fold, except of course if you know you have a good chance with your own good hand.
