WINNING AT TEXAS HOLDEM
If you’ve seen a poker tournament being televised or those played in casinos, you’re most probably watching Texas holdem. It is one of the more popular variations of poker plays where there’s a dealer dealing the card face up while giving the players hole cards. During each round, there’s betting involved until finally, the players try to get the best combination of hands at the end to finally snag the pot money.
Things to Consider
Look at your finances to see if you have enough bankroll for each play of hands. More bankroll means more chances of having more plays and opportunities to bluff with confidence compared to other opponents who have lesser bankroll. Although I wouldn’t advise bluffing on every play of hand as it makes you an easy opponent to read. Some play like a maniac but you should only do that if you know your chances at having a better hand than the rest shows higher probability.
See how many players are involved in the game. The more players there are in a game, the more cautious you should be with your calls. With more players means higher chances of one of you getting a good hand. But if you’re the one with the good hand, most likely the rest have bad hands.
Positions and Hands Play a Part
Players who get their turn in the latter part have a better chance of crafting their next move. You’ve seen how other players have done before you. The dealer has the advantage in this instance but that’s a given. Nonetheless, playing at a later position gives you more leverage in terms of playing weaker hands.
Do you know the card combinations that give you more chances of winning the game. If you don’t know which hands give you greater chances of hitting it or not, you better start knowing your cards. Getting an ace may give you a ray of light but what are the chances of your opponent getting one or two of the same?
All in all, you see numbers play a part with your bankroll, numbers based on position gives you more option, numbers based on total players lets you know if you have a good hand or you don’t have it. Don’t be surprised because that’s why your cards show numbers too. Then start playing the probabilities game and you won’t be too far off the mark. |
